Java Loco Coffee & Bubble Tea - Van Dorn Plaza
About This Spot
Stepping into Java Loco Coffee & Bubble Tea at Van Dorn Plaza feels like entering a familiar neighborhood nook where time slows just enough to catch your breath. The hum of casual conversations blends with the soft clatter of cups and the gentle hiss from the espresso machine, creating an atmosphere that’s unpretentious and quietly inviting. It’s a spot where both early risers grabbing a quick bite and remote workers nestle into simple wooden benches or high stools, each immersed in their own rhythms yet connected by the shared pleasure of a thoughtfully brewed drink.
The space carries a lived-in charm, the kind that sparks comfort rather than sleek modernity. Here, aromas of freshly ground coffee swirl alongside the unmistakable sweetness of bubble tea, inviting exploration beyond the usual fare. Whether it’s the rich nuttiness of a Vietnamese coffee sweetened with condensed milk or the creamy warmth of a chai latte spiced just so, each beverage offers a small moment of delight. The menu’s diversity—from the tropical sweetness of mango passion smoothies to the subtle earthiness of matcha lattes—reflects a willingness to embrace vibrant flavors alongside classic favorites.
For those who appreciate a slow morning or a pause mid-afternoon, Java Loco provides gentle hospitality without rush. The team’s easy friendliness encourages lingering, whether you’re sharing a breakfast sandwich or sipping bubble tea while tapping away on a laptop. Though the decor is simple and practical, the genuine warmth here transcends any decor debate, creating a sense of belonging to a local community spot that’s more about human moments than polished perfection.
Java Loco is the kind of place you might find yourself returning to—not only for the drinks and sweet treats but for the subtle comfort of a steady, welcoming presence in the neighborhood.

I was here today to meet a couple of friends. I ordered a hot chai tea latte and a croissant with cheese and ham. Bothering of them were great. My friends told me that the coffee was great which was true. I really like the service. The staff is very friendly that you feel very relaxed and are not in a hurry to leave. There were other people working in their computers. Wifi is good and there is plenty of parking.

Got a Horchata Latte w/2 shots: fabulous! The place smells really bad, like your grandparents house they've lived in 50 years as smokers. I couldn't even stay inside while I waited for my order. As I sat outside across the way, it would waff over when someone opened the door. I can only assume they smoke out back - smoke spreads people! I can't come back just for this reason - allergic. But, if you don't mind a smokers den, head over to great coffee.

This place is near me and convenient and I'd rather shop local than Starbucks or Dunkin. The horchata latte with a shot of espresso is my favorite. I've also enjoyed their bubble tea (mango or taro). Staff are quick. The free wifi is nice, ive worked out of here from time to time. The seating is not really comfortable (wooden benches or high tops) and the decor is outdated. I am surprised that a small seasonal latte with alternative milk is nearly $10. Also, it would be nice to have at least 1 food options that doesn't have gluten or dairy.

First time here. I really like the decoration and the vibe here. My boyfriend really enjoyed their Thai milk tea. It’s hard to find a good one outside of Thai restaurant. My sea-salt coffee was also amazing. Totally recommended!!
